We chose the name HOCKEY BLAST for a number of reasons. First, the word "blast" captures what we feel is the essence of pro hockey: sudden, powerful, explosive! But, interpreted differently, it ALSO means big FUN! Those two definitions sum up what we've designed this hockey board game to be about--sudden, explosive, powerful, FUN!
In HOCKEY BLAST Pro Hockey sports simulation board game, players perform based on the presence--or absence--of various qualities like speed, power and skill. Each player is also rated for his ability in creating and/or taking away scoring opportunities, as well as for shots and assists, penalties, face-offs and injury. The game creates minute-by-minute "highlight" action, with line shifts each minute. (We don't have to tell you hockey board game fans, but getting realistic line changes in a hockey board game is a huge challenge--so we're especially pleased with this element of the game design!) Some minutes have more action than others, obviously! You'll be able to keep as many stats as you care to, with realistic results.
One of the exciting things about this hockey board game is the "momentum" factor around which the game is built. Players and teams can gain and lose momentum by delivering big hits, intimidation, cheap shots, and fights. These "extra-curricular activities" aren't just added for "color," the game is designed so that these things actually impact the game itself, OUTSIDE of simply generating penalty minutes. And this is without having to calculate indexes, count points, or keep track of counters.
ALSO, with HOCKEY BLAST Pro Hockey simulation board game, you'll be able to make your own players and teams! For a small extra charge, we'll include a booklet containing the HOCKEY BLAST card creation recipe. The player creation process is not a particularly difficult one and, if you WANT to, you should be able to experiment with your own seasons and leagues soon after getting familiar with the game. Of course, we'll be busy creating OUR version of historical and fictional seasons, too!
