All Hallow’s Eve ‘22 with Special Guest AFR Steve!
Join us tonight for our annual "All Hallow's Eve" stream with AFR's Steve Tower! This is the sixth year that we've done this show together: twice we've done it live from AFR headquarters in Medfield, MA, this will be our fourth time hosting it from PLAAY HQ. We try to make the show as interactive as possible, and hope you'll chime in on the stream's live chat box.
We've done pretty much every PLAAY game there is on the AHE stream. Usually we have one of the Commissioner's Surprise hockey games--who can forget the (2018?) hockey game which began with a bench-clearing brawl!! Other featured events have included a World Series pre-PLAAY game, a Fury Hardball World Series (last year), a Patriots/Saints beat-down with the 1999 season teams (ugh) and many more.
Tonight, we'll revisit the World Series theme to start the show, we'll "pre-PLAAY" (tomorrow night's) Game One of the World Series, Phillies and Astros, with HISTORY MAKER BASEBALL Express. BTW, our Fall Classic Pre-PLAAY event in Hartford correctly predicted the two teams in this year's series, how about that? In our Connecticut Fall Classic, the Astros swept the Phillies in four games. Hmmmm. We'll see if they can maintain that momentum tonight! (You can download the cards here…)
After Phillies/Astros, we'll get out the golf game--first time to feature it on All Hallow's Eve--for a quick round at the Sleepy Hollow Golf Course. It's an unusual course, only six holes. Each hole has a "scare factor," from haunted trees to a slumbering sea monster that awakens if you out your ball in its water. There's an Addams' Family styled detached hand that roams the green and is liable to fling your well-placed ball into the bunker, or the cup, depending on its mood!
You're welcome to try out the course yourself, just click the instant download button. A couple of special rules are in effect for Sleepy Hollow. First, you get to choose your own golfer qualities. You may choose any two FULL qualities, and any two SEMI qualities. We did this for our annual convention golf tournament, and it worked really well. Second, we're saying that on a white die "6," you get a blue chip BUT the course controls (no option to "attack the green.")
Remember, you want to score well at Sleepy Hollow--but you also have to SURVIVE! "Mmwaah ha ha ha HA!" (Fun fact: we calculate that there's an 80% chance of making it through all six holes. Greater than 80% if you use a chip to gain control of the fifth hole and "play safe" on the sixth; LESS than 80% if you decide to "go for it!"
Then we'll close out the show by picking up where we left off with our annual "Three For All Throw-Down" FACE TO THE MAT pro wrestling series between Steve's AFR All-Stars and Team PLAAY, managed by me. As always, the match will conclude with a "Grudge Match" between me and Steve, to decide who gets to hold the Title Belt for the next twelve months! (Only THIS year, there's MORE at stake...details in a moment...)
Here's a quick recap of last year's Throw Down: Team PLAAY won the first two matches, with "Who IS This Guy?" easily turning back Headless Horace (pinfall), and Auntie Social pinning Kandi Korn. But Steve managed to pin me in the featured match to force a winner-takes-all tie-breaker match between The AFR Goon Squad's Grave Digger (who defected Team PLAAY during last year's show!) and the guy who replaced him at Team PLAAY, "Dancin' Bob Hansen." The Grave Digger prevailed, hitting the Sodbuster (finisher) for the win, in a one-sided match that prompted Team PLAAY's Auntie Social to give a heated post-match speech, culminating with "We'll see you bozos NEXT Halloween!'
You can download the wrestling cards with the button above. For those keeping score, here are the current TV and Grudge Grades for each wrestler...
AFR All-Stars
• The Grave Digger (TV A) (+3 grudge)
• The Mortician (TV B) (0 Grudge) (with no urn—lost it in 2020)
• Headless Horace (TV B) (0 grudge)
• Kandi Korn (TV B) (0 grudge)
• AFR Steve (TV AA) (“AHE Title Holder!”)
Team PLAAY
• I am THAT Guy! (Formerly Who IS this guy?) (TV C) (-1 Grudge)
• Auntie Social (TV B) (-1 grudge)
• Freddy the Thirteenth (TV B) (0 Grudge)
• Keith @ PLAAY (TV D) (Grudge +4)
For this year, Bob's been let go by Team PLAAY and replaced with Freddy the Thirteenth (TV B, Grudge 0).
AND--this is huge--we're going to make this year's featured match a DOUBLE grudge match, with the winner moving up TWO TV grades, the loser moving DOWN two TV grades! Thus, if Keith @ PLAAY loses, by rule, he is OUT of the game (because I'll have a TV grade of F).
See you tonight on the PLAAY Games YouTube Channel, 6pm MDT, 8pm EDT!
