First Look at PLAAY Gear
Hey everybody, Sam here again. This week you may have noticed a number of new products popping up on the site, products that *gasp* aren’t game related! I’d like to take a moment to formally introduce PLAAY Gear, a new line of PLAAY-branded apparel and goods. We’re starting small with four simple products, but looking to expand the lineup in the near future. As we test the waters with these first few items, we’re interested in what you think about them, and what you’d like to see moving forward. But before that, let me offer some context to “why apparel?” and “why now?”
First off, if you’re thinking to yourself “Don’t I already have a PLAAY shirt hanging in my closet?”… you might be right! Years ago we offered a PLAAY.com t-shirt and mug, but the interest was low and after selling through the first print run we decided it didn’t make sense to reorder, effectively discontinuing the products. Sad! However, several things have changed since then that have allowed us to give PLAAY merch another shot.
First and foremost is a new ecommerce tool that allows us to integrate third-party print-on-demand and fulfilment services into our website. What this means is that when you order any of the new PLAAY Gear products, instead of Keith and I shipping your order to you it will instead be printed and shipped to you by Printful, our print-on-demand partner for this process. This change eliminates many of the previous issues we had with offering shirts, such as inventory, sizing, and gauging interest. Getting these issues out of the way opens the door to lots of new and exciting possibilities for PLAAY Gear moving forward.
So with that in mind, what kind of Gear would you like to see more of? Simple, broad designs like the PLAAY Classic Tee, or more specific looks like the Second Season Express Tee? Do you like the hat and mug, and are there any other types of products you’d like to see? Or maybe you think its all a little silly—we’d like to know that too!
