PLAAY Games at the Pro Football Hall of Fame!
The big football board game-playing event at the Pro Football Hall of Fame is getting closer! We want you to join us for a multi-course menu of pro football board game goodness, played at pro football's most hallowed grounds. Here are the details...
• It's a two day event, Saturday August 23rd and Sunday, August 24th, 9a-5p both days.
• The event is being coordinated by Geoff Giordano of the APBA Football club, but numerous football board games will be represented, including the suite of PLAAY football games: Second Season, Cold Snap (full-play and express), Fury Football from PLAAY NOW and Draft Duel from Studio Sp1cy.
• The cost is $75 per day, Saturday and Sunday, includes a catered lunch. You can attend either or both days.
• Registration closes August 8th! Payment is to be made through Geoff Giordano prior to the event, not AT the event. Here's the link to the event Facebook page, which has contact and payment info.
• The board game activities happen 9a to 5p, the hall is open until 7p--you can tour the Hall of Fame exhibits at ANY time during those hours. (In other words, you can craft your own mix of HOF-browsing and board-game playing!)
Here's our tentative schedule of events (catered lunch break both days noon to 2p)...
Saturday, August 23rd
• 9a to noon, 1974 World Football League 50th Anniversary Celebration: As it turns out, this event falls on the 50th anniversary of the start of the World Football League, perhaps the most ambitious attempt ever to take on the "pro football establishment." It failed, spectacularly, but is still remembered for its grand plans and sports-world-shaking NFL player signings (Csonka, Kiick, Warfield and more!). We'll get the league's twelve teams on the tabletop in a NEW team-color double-sided team card format and replay some/all of the actual first week of the '74 WFL season.
• 2 to 330p, All-Time Franchise Great Teams Tournament, Second Season Express: What better place to cheer on the greatest players in your favorite pro football team's history than at the Pro Football Hall of Fame? Choose your team and call your shots in the condensed version of our full-play pro football board game, 30 minute game time. Tournament structure will be based on number of entrants.
• 330p to 5p, Open game play and demo sessions: We’ve be available to demo all PLAAY football games: Second Season, Cold Snap (full-play and express), Fury Football, and Draft Duel!
Sunday, August 24th
• 9a to noon, Cold Snap Canadian Pro Football: If you're a fan of Canadian football, or just curious about it, here's your chance to experience it on the game table! We'll have an assortment of seasons available to play, from the 70s to today, with both full-play and "express" options.
• 2 to 3p, Fury Football Head-to-Head: On the heels of our head-to-head "pitch deck" variant for Fury hardball, we're working on a similar add-on for Fury Football, one which adds more "game" and less "sim." We'll try it out with our Pro League All-Star cards, so you'll have familiar football names in a cool new context!
We may shuffle this schedule around based on interest, so let us know if you have any thoughts or suggestions!
