The summer is just getting started, and we have a LOT going on!...
PLAAY Dot CON 2022
Our annual get-together of PLAAY Gamers is less than a month away! In all, over 50 gamers from the (X) states and two Canadian provinces will gather for a weekend PACKED with games, fun and camaraderie! Those who are attending (should) have received a second e-mailed update (if you didn't, let us know!), those who aren't able to be here are welcome to follow along on social media!
The weekend begins Thursday evening with a pre-con picnic at Redstone Park, followed by two (very) FULL days of sports game fun! Organized events like the HISTORY MAKER BASEBALL Time Machine Tournament and the annual PLAAY Gamer Open Golf Tournament (with HISTORY MAKER GOLF), plus new sports game experiences like RED WHITE & BLUE RACIN' Turbo Edition, a new head-to-head "game not sim" and All-Pro Fury Football, an exciting re-imagining of pro football's fading-interest all-star game.

Even if you're not able to attend the convention in-person, you can still participate! Our "DIY Dodgeball Download" gives you everything you need to create your own personal dodgeball team to enter in the official convention tournament! You have to submit your entry on or before July 16th--that gives you more than two weeks. So--DO it!!

• TONIGHT 06.30.22, What's New at PLAAY: We'll do a whirlwind run-through of what's new at PLAAY, including All-Pro Fury Football cards, our upcoming fictional College Hoops PLAAY-Down cards, New SS Pro Season presentation, 2022 Euro Cards for SOCCER BLAST (+ free download), 2022 Pro Football Showcase report and MORE! The fastest 40 minutes in tabletop sports!
• THUR 07.07.22, SECOND SEASON College All-Star Game, Los Angeles vs. the 2021 College ALL-Stars: This will be our tenth edition of the game, and we'll celebrate with a full play-through of the game with Second Season Pro Football. The pros currently lead the series 8-1. Can the "College Joes" beat the "Seasoned Pros" this year? Kenny Pickett will lead the charge, starting at 6pm!
• THUR 07.14.22, Big League Baseball All-Star Game Pre-PLAAY: Once again, Paul Salzgeber has created cards for the Junior and Senior Circuit all-stars and we'll pre-PLAAY this years's game with HISTORY MAKER BASEBALL. After the game, take advantage of the FREE download and have your OWN Pre-PLAAY!
• MON 07.18.22, PLANET FLIPPER Interstellar Renovation Game Unboxing and Launch: Our new PLAAY NOW game is ready to be released, and we'll make a party of it here with an unboxing and game demo of the final materials.
Did you miss these streams?...
• Game Lab Lightning Round 6: One of the highlights of the PLAAY stream schedule, it's a rotating casserole of behind-the-scenes game ideas! Some are near-finished games, others are not much more than notes, but they're ALL real in-development game ideas.
• Dads vs. Lads (and Lasses) DIY Dodgeball: In anticipation of the boxed game release of PLAAY NOW's "Dodgeball World Tour" and our convention dodgeball tournament (which YOU can be a part of--click here for more, or watch the stream!), we created cards for a number of PLAAY Gamer dads and their kids, and lined 'em up for DODGEBALL! And the winner WAS...(well, you'll have to watch and find out!)
• Pre-PLAAY/Re-PLAAY Championship Double Header: It's TWO, TWO...TWO championship games in ONE stream! We started with a pre-PLAAY of that night's Boston/Golden State hoops series game five, and concluded with a re-play of last season's Canadian football championship game, Hamilton vs. Winnipeg. Free downloads for BOTH!
• 1961 Continental League, New York Skyliners vs Toronto Totems: The debut stream for our just-released cards set for the greatest professional baseball league that never was! Read more about the league and cards here. Joe Pepitone and the Skyliners host visiting Toronto with the Totems' Williard Nixon on the mound!
New Releases coming SOON...
We're busy working on new card sets for our games, and just released the new 2021-22 Euro Champions cards for SOCCER BLAST (based on the just-finished Champions League season). Here are some of the sets you can look forward to in the coming weeks...
• 2021 Pro Season for SECOND SEASON: The centerpiece of the PLAAY games release schedule, this will mark the 23rd consecutive summer that the new season's been offered for sports gamers. And this year, we'll be offering the printed set in team colors (See the new look in tonight's video stream)! Available 07.08.22.
• 2021-22 English Pro Season for SOCCER BLAST: Created by soccer super-fan Neil Maitland, this card set will let you re-live the just finished top-tier English pro league in full glory! All 20 teams, over 400 cards, presented in team colors, printed or PDF. Available 08.05.22

Here's a list of some of the card sets we'll be releasing in the coming months--stay tuned, we may add to the list!...
• 2021-22 Pro Season for HIGHLIGHT MAKER HOOPS: Re-create the just-finished pro hoops season on your tabletop with this all-new set of cards, available in September.
• (Vintage season TBA) for HIGHLIGHT MAKER HOOPS: (this season is finished--we'll have a special video stream to announce it, later this year!)
• College Hoops 64 Team PLAAY-Down, HIGHLIGHT MAKER HOOPS: ALL of the excitement, drama and surprises of a full-blown national college hoops tournament, and the fictional twist will fuel your imagination and keep you coming back for more! 64 different fictional college basketball teams--you could hold a dozen play-throughs and get a different winner each time!
• Course Collection EIGHTEEN for HISTORY MAKER GOLF: We're whittling down the list of potential courses to include in this set, it will be ready this fall.
• 2021-22 Pro Season for HOCKEY BLAST: Re-live the just-finished pro hockey season (Go Avs!) on your tabletop, available in early October.
• 2021-22 Pro Season for HISTORY MAKER GOLF: The top pros of golf are winding down the season, we'll have cards for them sometime in late October/early November.
...whew! Better stop there while we still have some intrigue left!
PLAAY games in Phoenix?
This just in, we've been invited to attend the ConsimWorld Expo in Phoenix at the end of August. There's been a great discussion about PLAAY games in recent month on the ConsimWorld website, and while the site focuses on historical and war simulations, there's always been a connection between their hobby and ours, with plenty of overlap. We're thinking there may be interest there in our PLAAY NOW game Aviatrix '37, an historical simulation of Amelia Earhart's attempted flight around the world.
If we go--and it's still an "if" at this point, although we wouldn't mention it here unless we were seriously entertaining the idea--we will probably want to do some sort of PLAAY Games event while we're there, either at the hotel or possibly at a local game store. Most likely, this would be Sunday afternoon, August 28th. If you live in the Phoenix area (or can get there) let us know if you're interested, we'll keep you posted!
PLAAY NOW Update…
PLAAY NOW has been fairly quiet since Dice Tower West back in March, but we're excited to announce that two new games are in the PLAAY NOW pipeline!
• PLANET FLIPPER is a collaboration with designer Daryl Durston, a solitaire resource management game where you take on the role of a sort of interplanetary "Property Brother!" Your job is to take an inhospitable planet, "renovate" it by adding atmosphere and other life-support apparatus, and then "flip" it for (hopefully) a profit. It's the first ever PLAAY game that uses no dice! Available 08.15.22.
• DODGEBALL WORLD TOUR was released last Christmas as our holiday PDF game, and it's back for its official release, available both as a full-boxed, printed game AND as a PDF download. We'll be featuring the game at this year's PLAAY Dot CON, and then making it available after the convention (08.01.22) to the entire PLAAY community!

Cold Snap IPFC commissioner Peter Miller forwarded this photo to all the IPFC guys and I just had to share it here. Peter wrote, "I saw some decider dice in a gift shop attached to the Crab Shack, a restaurant near Savannah, GA. See the attached picture. I like the side that says 'possibly.'" He added, "They might be a little hard to fit inside the standard PLAAY game box..."
