"Truckin' '76" takes you back to the year 1976 and the days of CB radios, truck driver culture and the 55 mile per hour national speed limit. ("Wait, what? You could only drive 55 miles an hour? Was that really a thing?" Yes it was!) If you remember the song "Convoy" from CW McCall...If you thought Burt Reynolds and Sally Field made a great couple and that "Smokey and the Bandit" was their (and Jackie Gleason's) best movie ever...if there was ever a moment in your life when you kicked around the idea of what it would be like to be a truck driver--then this 1970s themed truck driving board game is for YOU!!
"Truckin' '76" is a four-barrel diesel-fueled race against time and state troopers. You've got 24 hours to get from Texarkana to Atlanta with a payload of domestic beer, and you've got choices. Get there FAST and collect the "express bonus," or take the scenic route and pick up extra payload and truckin' perks. Either way can be a winner! Do it well enough and you could find yourself in the Truckin' Hall of Fame...but a few poor decisions and a little bad luck could land you in jail instead.
Designed to be played solo, there's also a two-player version of Truckin' '76 that's even MORE fun! Colorful, nostalgic, thematic--it's 20-30 minutes of 1970s interstate gear-shifting good times!
Here’s a link to a sample truckin’ log, a log similar to this is included with the game. It’s designed to help track your game once you’re ready to play, but it also is helpful in showing you how the game flows before you’ve played!
We inaugurated the game 09.13.25 at none other than “The World’s Largest Truck Stop,” the Iowa 80 Truck Stop in Walcott, IA. Click here for photos and a recap of the event.
Once we got back, we streamed live from the PLAAY Space YouTube channel with an official “unboxing” and game play demo…
A coast-to-coast “cannonball run” expansion in in the works, we’ll have more information about that coming soon.
In the meantime, let us know if you have any questions! “We 10-10 and on the side…”
