PLAAY Gamer Open Golf Tournament at Digital to Dice CON 2026
It was another epic weekend of tabletop sports gaming at Digital To Dice CON 2026, and History Maker Golf was part of the fun! James Cast hosted our annual PLAAY Gamer Open Golf Tournament, this year held at the Connecticut River course (Cromwell, CT). James sent along this recap of the two-round event that featured (as it typically does) a fantastic finish!...
Here's a scoring summary by group...
Group 1
(from left) Andy Sexton, Derek, Rob Hinkle
Derek 65-71 = 136 (-4)
Andy Sexton 66-67 = 133 (-7)
Rob Hinkle 68-70 = 138 (-2)
GROUP NOTES: Andy was our leader in the clubhouse early. He finished Round 1 with 4 birdies on the back nine, and then closed Round 2 with a pair of birdies on 15 and 17.
Group 2
(from left) John Heckel, ST Patrick (observer!), Roy Paeth, Brad Fowler.
Brad Fowler 71-66 = 137 (-3)
John Heckel 71-67 = 138 (-2)
Roy Paeth 67-70 = 137 (-3)
GROUP NOTES: Roy was in contention through 27 holes at -4, but bogeys on 10 and 16 cost him.
Group 3
(from left) John Wise, Bobby McGill, Dave Little, Mitch Singer.
Bobby McGill 71-68 = 139 (-1)
Dave Little 67-62 = 129 (-11)
Mitchell SInger 66-63 = 129 (-11)
John Wise 69-72 = 141 (+1)
It was an incredible second round for this group. Dave Little and Mitchell were in contention after Round 1, at -3 and -4 respectively. Then Dave posted a bogey free round with 8 birdies to finish at -11. Mitchell shot a 30 on the front nine in Round 2, and posted 8 birdies heading to 18. He was at -12 overall. But a bogey on 18 dropped him to -11. So he and Dave shook hands and took the clubhouse lead at 11 under.
Group 4
(from left) Andy Paczowski, Bruce Berkowicz, Pete Adams, Scott Johnson.
Bruce Berkowicz 66-67 = 133 (-7)
Pete Adams 67-65 = 132 (-8)
Andy Paczkowski 69-68 = 137 (-3)
Scott Johnson 71-70 = 141 (+1)
Our final group saw the only Eagle of the tournament. Bruce posted that on the Par 5 13th hole in Round 1. Bruce and Pete put together solid rounds and made our final leaderboard.

The Playoff…
Mitchell had to leave early, so Thomas Laino stepped in to take his place. Joe Cards was scheduled to play for Mitchell when he had to leave, but graciously gave up his spot so Thomas could play the game for the first time. Mitchell also took his player card with him, so we helped Thomas create his card. I also let Thomas and Dave choose an extra half quality for the playoff. We decided on a sudden death playoff, starting on Hole 18 and playing backwards until we had a winner.
• Hole 18: Dave Par, Thomas Par. Both players rolled a white 6 and opted to take their Blue chips.
• Hole 17: Dave Par, Thomas Par. Dave used his blue chip to make a difficult putt a moderate one, and Thomas sank a clutch putt to earn a second chip.
• Hole 16: Dave Bogey ... he ended up with another difficult putt for par, and missed it. Thomas used his first chip to take control of the hole and used his second to improve his putt and got a par!
The Champion!…
…Mitchell Singer / Thomas Laino! We've sent a PLAAYCOM Cup to Mitchell to commemorate the event--we'll send one to Thomas, too, as soon as we hear from him with a mailing address!
Many thanks to all who participated, and special thanks again to James Cast for hosting and moderating the event!
