SCRAM-TASTIC: Todd Barre's RWBR Racin' History!

PLAAY gamer Todd Barre recently finished his 2021 SCRAM season with RED WHITE & BLUE RACIN'--Todd has completed EVERY season we've ever released, including the old-school 1960 season! We thought it would be interesting to post Todd’s results so that other PLAAY gamers who are part of the SCRAM universe can compare notes! Here's Todd's report for 2021, followed by some of Todd’s all-time career SCRAM stats...
“Defending SCRAM champion Julee Justus held off strong charges from Kory Wallace and Austin Bigler to finish third at the season-ending Lone Star Financial 500 from Texas and captured her third SCRAM championship, tying her with Ray Bob Walker for the most titles. Justus’ three titles have been won in the last four years - 2018, 2020, and now 2021. Although Justus won only one race during 2021, she was easily the most consistent driver during the 32-race series as the leading point-getter entering the 10-race Chase, as well as accumulating a series-high 293 stage bonus points, 50 points higher than any other driver. Those extra points proved crucial in helping her qualify for each ensuing Chase segment.
“Kory Wallace led the pack of a number of young drivers who had “breakout” seasons. He won three races in 2021 and was one of the point leaders throughout the year. His ninth-place finish at Texas secured second place in the final overall standings. It was a “return to prominence” year for Austin Bigler, who took his new #10 ride to a third-place overall finish including a race win at the penultimate race at Desert Saguaro that qualified him into the final Chase race. Bigler was also one of the most consistent points racers during the year and his strong “comeback” was one of the top stories of the year. Finally, it was a highly successful but disappointing season for Trevor Trostel, who settled for fourth place overall – his fifth top-five finish in the SCRAM series. A blown engine on turn 37 at Texas ended his chance for his first SCRAM title. Trostel won a season-high four races and nine stages in 2021, and is now second all-time with 21 race victories (behind Wayne Montana’s 25) but once again came up short for his first SCRAM championship.
“It was another strong year for a number of SCRAM’s “young guns” with a few others making names for themselves and adding to a growing list of “ones to watch” in coming years. Matt Bush finished a strong fifth overall with three race victories. Chase Fetterman also racked up three wins and a sixth-place overall finish, and was the only driver to start all 32 races and not suffer a “DNF.” Cooper Mixson’s debut in the #24 car was also a success. He was one of the points leaders early in the season with three race victories as well, but a disappointing Chase left him in 10th overall. One of the big stories in the Chase was Donna Tourville, now the sole driver of the #00 car. Although Tourville didn’t win a race and finished 13th overall, she had a knack for just qualifying for each ensuing Chase level and actually made it into the final-eight. Moon Dog Hamilton also qualified for the Chase (with a race victory) in his full-time debut in the #18 car.
“The resounding success of these young drivers left a number of veterans outside looking in. Pete MacAtee was clearly the strongest of these, missing the Chase by a handful of points but scoring a late-season race victory. However, a number of veterans came up empty – no race wins and were non-factors in the race for the Chase. These included Geoff Daly, Jr. (19th in final points), Ray Bob Walker (20th), Jason Leonard (22nd), Wayne Montana (23rd), Cam Croyle (27th), Marlin McGarry (29th), Chris Wynne (31st) and Joey Plonka (38th). Plonka actually did win a race but finished outside the top-30, making him ineligible for the Chase.
“A NASCAR Chase format was used to decide the championship with 22 races cutting the field down to 16 drivers – 12 different race winners plus four additional points leaders from the non-winners. The 2021 stage system with extra bonus and playoff points currently being used in the current NASCAR season was used.”
