We're excited to present the 1984 Pro season for RED WHITE & BLUE RACIN' Stock Car Action Game, a classic season with plenty of racin' thrills and memorable moments. Once again, the cards and tracks were rated by our resident NASCAR historian Jerry Minks, Mountain City, TN. This particular season is right in Jerry's wheelhouse, a season that he followed pretty closely back in the day. We think you'll really enjoy it.
The '84 season features all of the big names from this golden era of professional stock car racing. The championship was won by the 44 team with consistent finishes instead of victories. They only won two races, but of the 27 races completed, the 44 finished in the Top Ten in 24 of them. The 28 team ran only half the season, focusing on big races, but seemed to be in the limelight the entire year, winning three races—almost four, edged out by less than a foot at the finish line of the Firecracker 400 by "The King." That win at Daytona marked his 200th and final career win in a season that saw him recognized and remembered for his NASCAR legacy. President Ronald Reagan was in attendance for the Daytona race, and many luminaries and legends chimed in all season long with their appreciation and admiration. Because of his special status in '84, we've created a "boutique" rating for his card, and a special Race Week twist to accommodate him.
The '84 season was 30 races long, conducted on fifteen tracks—two races at each track. That left us room for a "bonus" track for the '84 season set, which we filled with a rather unique offering: the Burke Lakefront Airport "road course," Cleveland, OH. On Friday, July 6th, 1984, Burke was a working airport; the next day, it was hastily configured as a road racing course for the year's second IROC race, featuring a mix of twelve of the world's top drivers. NASCAR's Yarborough, Earnhardt and Bonnett joined Formula One and Indy drivers Fittipaldi, Ongais, Sneva and Ickx, each taking the wheel of an identically-equipped '84 Chevy IROC Camaro, televised by CBS Sports.
With the '84 Pro Season for RED WHITE & BLUE RACIN' you can run the year's top races (like the Winston 500 at Talladega, which was the most competitive race in NASCAR history--75 lead changes, a record that stood until 2010!), the twin Daytona races, or the entire race season! Keep your own points standings and race statistics—you'll be amazed at how close your numbers come to what happened in real-life! It's like a card stock time machine that re-creates this classic year of stock car racing on your game table!
The '84 Pro Season for RED WHITE & BLUE RACIN' includes 64 driver cards with '80s car icons and authentic '84 season colors (normal and TV cards), sixteen track cards and a season summary/card set liner notes.
