We're excited to present the 1985 Pro Season for Second Season Pro Football Game! This set has been in the works for a number of years, and it's great to finally get it on your game table.
What more can be said about this iconic season that hasn't already been said? (After all, it's been 40 years now!) The Shades, the Shuffle, "Da Coach," "The Fridge" and a blowout win in the Big Game--the '85 season was indelibly marked by these and more! It remains at the forefront whenever the discussion turns to "what was pro football's most memorable season?"
Several teams had workhorse runners--James Wilder, Marcus Allen, Eric Dickerson to name a few. If these guys get hurt, it will change the trajectory of their club's season, for sure. But our “injury exemption list” will keep that from happening, if you so choose.
One of the fun footnotes of the '85 season was Chicago's 300-pound defensive tackle William "The Refrigerator" Perry being used on offense as a runner and pass-catcher. "Is the Refrigerator Running?" Yup, he is!
When the '85 season began, the USFL had just completed what would ultimately be its final campaign. The initial inbound trickle of players turned into a steady flow, and by season's end many of the USFL's top stars were wearing new pro uniforms. This doesn't affect game play in any way, but I felt it was notable to point out, especially since we've previously released the USFL's '85 season for our game. The '85 USFL teams are rated relative to this (and other) pro season, so you can have realistic inter-league play but in the cases of guys like Anthony Carter, Bobby Hebert, Steve Young and others, you'll need to decide which team they'll be playing for. (We suggest leaving them on their USFL teams.)
All in all, it’s a memorably fun football season, and now you can re-live it on your game table with Second Season Pro Football Game!
