• 63-win season for the Los Angeles, ninth year in a row as the West's top seed--but stunned by the Suns (4-1) in the Western Semi-finals.
• Detroit's "Bad Boys" win the championship, defeating Portland in five games.
• All three Texas teams (Houston, San Antonio, Dallas) in the playoffs.
• Magic Johnson named league MVP, Michael Jordan wins the scoring title (33.6 points per game), David Robinson named Rookie of the Year, Dennis Rodman top defensive player, Pat Riley Coach of the Year.
• Influx of Eastern European players made impact, including Vlade Divac, Sarunas Marciulionis, Drazen Petrovic and Alexander Volkov.
