2022 Euro Championship Soccer PDF

This card set was created by PLAAY Gamer and football fanatic Phil Dorn, Hamburg, Germany. It's based on the 2021-22 Champions League, won in dramatic fashion on 05.28.22 by Real Madrid. Phil created our 2020 Euro Champions set during the pandemic and it was so well-received by the community that we asked him to reprise his role as card creator for this set. The 2020 set was a "projection" set, for which Phil applied an extra helping of his soccer expertise to fill in the blanks for the pandemic-scuttled real-life campaign. This set, however, is more of a look-back at the real-life Champions League, with players rated based on actual performances.

As was the case in the 2020 set, Phil incorporated a couple of ratings features not included in typical SOCCER BLAST sets.

He again used doubled/underlined qualities for some players. These are players who have outstanding skills in one or more facets of the game. “Most of the double qualities are for very fast players (PACE), some players are physically very STRONG, some have an incredible technique (TOUCH) and some rare players have (TACTICS) who play tactically an important role for their team. There are no players rated double HARD, as HARD leads to cards and there is also a CARD ‘check’ rating to account for this. Also, there are no players rated double STAR, since star players normally already have very good ratings.” Double qualities preclude tie-breaker die rolls on TAKE ON results, and also add two measures of the quality for the team on MIDFIELD BATTLE and BUILD UP results.

Phil also makes special note of each team's penalty kick specialist(s). For the 2020 set, we simply put "PK" under the player's SHOT rating. This time, we highlighted the "kick" nomenclature on the bottom panel of the player's card. Of course, you're free to use whomever you please to make your penalty kicks--this just helps indicate who took them in real-life.

There are a few things to take note of, different this time around...

First, players are allowed to play for two different teams during the tournament. Since the START rating tells you only how often a player starts but not for whom, there is a notation on some players, on the team/position line of the card. There are special symbols for players who played only in the Group Stage and were then traded in the winter to another team, as well as for players who were traded to a team during the winter and only played for this team during the Knockout Stage.
