Welcome to the 2024 season of SCRAM—Stock Car Racing America—RED WHITE & BLUE RACIN' Stock Car Action Game's fictional stock car racing organization!
The premise behind all our fictional card sets is that sometimes it's fun for sports board gamers to play out an open-ended scenario, where you're creating your OWN sports history, rather than re-creating it from what happened in real-life. With this set of SCRAM driver cards, you can watch your own personal stock car racing season unfold, with all the drama, excitement and unpredictability of REAL stock car racing!
This is the THIRTEENTH consecutive year for SCRAM, and many PLAAY Gamers have conducted full race schedules every year! Our hope for this update is that it will generate another season of memorable table-top "moments!" There's enough new and different stuff going on to keep things fresh and interesting, but plenty of continuity, too. It'll be, we think, a very comfortable and familiar progression for SCRAM fans moving from 2023 to 2024.
This year's SCRAM release again offers the entire SCRAM B-Series for your sports game table! You get 52 additional drivers, some of them familiar names from previous B-Series and SCRAM-ateur sets, rated for the 2024 B-Series season. Run the B-Series as the day-before "opening act" for all your SCRAM races and get double the racing fun for only a few dollars more!
If you're new to SCRAM, we want you to know that it's loosely patterned after the current pro stock car scene, designed to generate a similar distribution of results. However, it's a totally distinct entity. These are unique racing personalities, and we feel strongly that after running a few races, you'll begin to develop a real affinity for them as "your guys." Don't be surprised if you find yourself talking to your race fan friends about Julee Justus, Austin Bigler, Trevor Trostel and the Pettis brothers Jordy and Kevin as if they were real racing stars! To YOU, they WILL be!
With that in mind, here are some of the highlights of the brand-new 2024 SCRAM Season card set...
Trevor Trostel was lured to the 31 team as former driver turned team owner Stu Yurich decided it's time to SPEND and (hopefully) WIN! Yurich spared no expense in upgrades for equipment, facilities, and with Trostel behind the wheel, the expectations are very high.
Brent Tice takes over full-time in the 99. With Wayne Montana's retirement the team has a new look, a new sponsor and high hopes for a successful season.
The torch is being passed in the Walker racing family, with veteran Ray Bob taking a lesser role with the 33 and his son Joe Bob taking a higher profile with the 77. Ray Bob hasn't talked about retirement--yet. But it could be in the cards.
There are two new teams in the mix for 2024, the 8 and the 12. The 8 will split duties between a trio of drivers, while at the 12 the main driver is Tobi Sensenig, backed up by veteran Chris Koppa.
Long-time armed forces favorite Alex Hodge is gone--last few years he's struggled to compete and budget cuts from his military sponsors spelled the end of a long SCRAM tradition. It's looking like the end of the line for the 73 team as well, with Joey Plonka out of the picture and financial problems looming. Newcomer Zailey Delisle will steer the 73 through what could be a difficult 2024 season.
These are just some of the story lines you'll watch unfold with the new 2024 SCRAM season set for RED WHITE & BLUE RACIN'! Of course, many of your favorite SCRAM stars are back for more, picking up where they left off in '23. Everyone from the SCRAM-tastic Walker family (up-and-comer Joe Bob Walker and his iconic driver dad, Ray Bob), the Pettis brothers Jordy and Kevin, and the "women of SCRAM," Julee Justus, Donna Tourville, Aimee Serra, Pam Graham, and more! It's your OWN personal stock car racing universe, and it's ready to roll for another year of "boogity-boogity!"
The last two years (2022 and 2023) the SCRAM season kicked off at Aloha International Raceway, a road course that traces the beautiful beaches of Waikiki. SCRAM team owners protested the difficulty and expense of transporting everything to Hawaii. We kept the venue but made it an optional, end-of-season all-star event. Once again, the SCRAM Season will begin with The Ice Brew 600 race at the Northern Lights MotorDome, we’ve put it on the schedule as a Thursday night race, coinciding with our own live stream of the race on Thursday night 02.15.24.
So—are you ready to drop the checkered flag on another season of SCRAM racing? You get cards for 54 drivers in vivid team/sponsor colors (and five "bonus" blank cards to create your OWN drivers if you like), 23 track cards (including the new Super Southwestern DirtWay track!), a driver detail summary with snapshot text for each driver, complete 34-event race schedule and an intro sheet for the whole shootin' match, all for just $21! Add the "B-Series" cards--50 additional drivers and TV cards--for just eight bucks more!
