Fury Football returns to the tabletop "re-charged" with an all-new update! Over 150 new cards, and NEW ways to play!...
Here's the concept: we wanted to freshen up the Fury Football League for a new season of action, but at the same time maintain the viability/play value of the original FFL cards. So, we came up with the RECHARGED idea. Here's how it works...
Each of the 32 FFL teams has three re-carded players in this "re-charged" update. Some are veteran holdovers from the original release who have improved or declined in ability; some are players acquired from other FFL teams in a trade; still others are rookie signings, completely new players in team colors. There's an off-season player movement guide that comes with the set which tells you which three cards to remove from each of your original FFL teams--you'll remove those cards and set them aside. Once you've done that, add in the three new cards from the PSU.
NOW comes the fun part!...
We've also created a set of 64 "mercenaries"--unassigned players, who are looking for a new Fury home. About half of the mercenaries are veterans released from their original Fury teams (players whose cards you just removed from the set), given new free-agent cards. The other half are newly-carded rookies who are trying to grab a roster spot.
The mercenaries sub-set can be used in a number of different ways...
• Supplement current teams: hold a two-round draft for your Fury League, or devise other means of distributing the players. You could expand team rosters from 16 to 18 to accommodate the newcomers, or hold league-wide cut-downs and keep the released players for emergency signings for in your league.
• Create new teams: with 64 extra players, you've got enough for four new teams of mercenaries. We've distributed the players in roughly the same ratio as a typical FFL roster, so you'll have enough talent such that no team will get shorted a position.
• Save the cards for a new multi-player "Fan Controlled" campaign game: this is a development we're excited about, and it brings a whole new aspect of play to the game. It's designed for three or four players. Each of the mercenaries is given a dollar value (in millions) printed on their card. A draft is held, each player taking turns choosing players for their team, each operating with a salary cap of $25 (million). You will need to budget for 12 starters, so spend wisely.
Once the teams are drafted, play commences. For a two-player game, it's a best-of-three series. For three or four players, everyone plays each other once. That's four games of Fury Football, plus a championship game for three players. For four players, it's six games, plus playoffs. The entire campaign--from draft to title game--can be completed in a couple hours or less!
If you like, you can keep the mercenaries separate from the rest of your league and save them for multi-player campaign mode. Or you can mix them in--it's up to you! We've included a PTFU symbol on the new cards to help you distinguish them from the original release cards, in case you want to re-assemble the original teams and do something different with the update.
The Fury Football RECHARGED Update includes over 150 cards printed on perforated stock, with team colors and logos for each of the 32 Fury Football League teams. You also get a player movement guide to help you quickly re-charge your league.
